Vishay Introduces TM8 Series of High-Reliability Surface-Mount Tantalum Capacitors

Vishay Intertechnology has launched the TM8 series of high-reliability, surface-mount tantalum capacitors designed for critical applications. These capacitors offer exceptionally low DC leakage current, with values as low as 200 nA, ensuring reliable long-term performance.

The TM8 series is available in a range of capacitance and voltage ratings, from 1 µF / 40 V to 47 µF / 10 V, in seven compact case sizes. These capacitors are ideal for demanding environments, including implantable medical devices, medical instrumentation, and military/aerospace systems. Customization options and special screening are also available to suit application-specific needs.

Target Applications:
The TM8 series capacitors are optimized for filtering, coupling/decoupling, DC blocking, and energy storage applications, including:

  • Medical Devices: Pacemakers, ICDs, neurological stimulators, hearing aids, cochlear implants
  • Medical Instrumentation: Patient monitoring equipment, automated drug administration systems, imaging and diagnostic equipment
  • Military and Aerospace: Hybrid microcircuits, multichip modules, smart munitions, GPS systems, sensors, and handheld electronic systems

These RoHS-compliant capacitors operate over a temperature range of -55°C to +85°C, with an extended temperature range of +125°C with voltage derating, and a voltage range of 2 WVDC to 40 WVDC.
